still playing with cv joints

In order to find out you have to take the axel nut off and push the joint out of the hub and count. The part stores go by the outer splines so don't count the end that goes into the transmission. Most of the part stores will be able to tell you what is the more common one. Mine turned out to be the one that they always stocked.

Dude...a real parts store will know which one you need based on your type of car. If you have a STD then tell them it is a STD..if you have a DX or Si, tell them. I think that the only axles that are different are the standards...otherwise they are all the same unless you have a ZC tranny or a b-series tranny.
I am confused as to why you feel you need to count splines?

How is everyones vd going? (the VD for lovers not the type that itches), anyway I am replaceing my joints soon and need to know what to tell the parts store guy, how many splines. as my car is my only form of transportation I need to know what shaft to get befor I tear into my car does anyone know how to cheack for this with out removing my shafts? (I have a truck but wouldent drive it unless absolutly nessisary read: truck scares the $H!* out of me at this point of time and wouldent drive it period) Thanks all.

It only takes like 10 minutes to pull your half axle out and count the splines.

However, if your lazy, like me, just get the 26 splines (err or is that 27).. Its the higher number most likely, the other one (23 splines) is a rare find in a 4th gen.

btw, you will get charged a 50$ ++ core for the half axle. So its best to pull yours out, and take it directly up to the auto part store. That way you dont have to pay a core, and you can count the splines.
